In his fourth NFL season and first career start, quarterback Ryan Mallett looked good for the Houston Texans Sunday. Mallett passed for a 95.3 passer rating as the Texans beat the Cleveland Browns, 23-7.
Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 12: Ryan Mallett has strong debut
In his first career start, the Houston quarterback led the team to a win. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mallett, acquired in the preseason from the New England Patriots, took over for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick during Houston's bye week. He completed 20-of-30 passes in Sunday's game for 211 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. That was good for 14 fantasy points.
Fantasy impact: With DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson, Alfred Blue and the due-to-return Arian Foster, Mallett will have plenty of options on offense if he can hold his own. Through one game at least, it looks like he'll be at least respectable at the position.
Give it at least another week of production before letting Mallett crack a fantasy starting lineup, but in deeper leagues, he should be added as a precautionary measure, with some level of upside. At the least, he’s better than Fitzpatrick.
