The injuries came in bunches in Week 11 - the Broncos, Colts and Vikings all lost multiple skill players in their games. And while we might not have seen much in the way of injuries that might change a career trajectory, we saw a lot of players who left their games and didn't return including a few who's absence would impact the rest of the fantasy season.
Fantasy football aftermath: Injuries of Week 11
So Denver and Indianapolis had a bad day with all those injuries, huh?
Hope you managed to avoid all of these. But, you probably didn’t:
Quarterback injuries in Week 11
- Buffalo quarterback Kyle Orton injured his toe Thursday night. More troubling for Orton is the fact he's been pretty awful the last two weeks, after looking strong during his first four games. The Bills haven't indicated any desire to go back to EJ Manuel, but Orton's leash has to be shortening.
- Dallas' Tony Romo came out of the team's Week 10 game in London none the worse for wear with his back problems, and no sad noises have come out of Dallas through the team's bye. At this point, you have to consider Romo good to go going forward.
Running back injuries in Week 11
- It didn't take long for Denver's Montee Ball to get reinjured after returning from his groin injury. He aggravated it fairly early Sunday, forcing him out of action. He's scheduled to get a MRI on Monday, but early reports out of Denver aren't good, with increasing suspicion the running back might be done for the year. On top of that, news Sunday indicated Ronnie Hillman might miss as much as six weeks, instead of the two that was initially rumored. It's good news for C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson, but bad news for Broncos fans and fantasy owners.
- The Colts lost Ahmad Bradshaw late Sunday with a leg injury on a goal-line attempt. There wasn't much of an update after the game about Bradshaw's status going forward, but his history makes this worrisome. If he's out for any length of time, Trent Richardson becomes more interesting, and Dan Herron would become the No. 2 in Indianapolis.
- Reggie Bush missed his third game in the last five for Detroit as he deals with an ankle injury. Bush keeps trying to get back on the field before struggling again, and at this point it might be best for the Lions just to hold him out until they're sure he's good to go. Joique Bell is a fine running-back play with or without Bush whileTheo Riddick is hard to use either way.
- The Texans were without Arian Foster and Alfred Blue filled in more than adequately, to the tune of 156 yards. Foster is expected back in Week 12, and assuming that's true, he'll be right near the top of the running-back rankings.
- The Bills said Fred Jackson would have played if the team's Week 11 game had been Sunday, and while that's easy to say when there's no way to prove it, there's no reason to think he is going to miss Week 12. Jackson will be fine.
- Rashad Jennings made it back on the field for the Giants Sunday and got a full workload, with 18 carries and four receptions. Late in the game, though, Andre Williams got the work. It's too early to know if that was an aggravation of Jennings' MCL injury or just a change of pace.
- After the Chargers' win Sunday, Ryan Mathews was seen limping out of the locker room. This after he played his first game since Week 2. Mathews said there was nothing to worry about, but let's wait and see what the practice reports out of San Diego are like during the week.
Wide receiver injuries in Week 11
- Larry Fitzgerald hurt his knee in the first half and left the game, but came back on the field in the second half and continued to catch passes. He's scheduled for a Monday MRI, but it seems largely precautionary, and all expectations are that Fitzgerald will be fine going forward.
- The Vikings lost Greg Jennings (ribs) and Jarius Wright (hamstring), leading to a big game from Charles Johnson (and oddly not, Cordarrelle Patterson). Neither Jennings or Wright is much of a fantasy option, but if they miss time, Patterson should theoretically see some benefit.
- Denver's Emmanuel Sanders took a huge hit in the third quarter, sending him off the field and into the league's concussion protocol. He was alert after the game, but you never know with a concussion. It'll be at least a couple days before Sanders' status is known, so keep an eye on reports out of Denver for more. Any time Sanders might miss could help the value of Wes Welker and/or Andre Caldwell.
Tight end injuries in Week 11
- Indianapolis tight end Dwayne Allen injured his ankle in the second quarter Sunday and had to be carted off, leading to career-high yardage for Coby Fleener. Currently, all we know about Allen is that he'll get further tests, but it didn't look great. If he misses time, Fleener becomes a very attractive fantasy option.
- Jimmy Graham had only 29 yards on three catches Sunday. He took a hit on the team's first drive that appeared to aggravate his shoulder injury, though the team hasn't said anything about it. We'll see if Graham hits the week's injury report.
- Jordan Reed never left the field with an injury Sunday, but he appeared on Washington's post game injury report as having a hamstring issue. Considering a simple injury cost him most of five games earlier this season, it's worrying for Reed, who has combined injuries with ineffectiveness this season. Tread lightly.
- Denver lost Julius Thomas in the first quarter Sunday to an ankle injury. Early reports are it isn't a high-ankle sprain, which would be good news for the Broncos and fantasy owners, but with a MRI Monday, we could learn more. If Thomas misses time, Jacob Tamme would become a very interesting fantasy option.
