Rams-Chargers fantasy projections: Philip Rivers, Ryan Mathews, Kenny Britt are worth watching

St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams surprise a lot of people when they beat the Denver Broncos at home last week and although quarterback Shaun Hill didn't exactly put together the type of performance that anybody would call a fantasy explosion, he was steady enough to get the job done. Given that he's been around a while, he will probably be more consistent than Austin Davis has been of late, which could mean some surprising late-season fantasy value from Hill. Hill will be up against the San Diego Chargers defense that only ranks in the middle of the pack as far as giving up fantasy points quarterbacks is concerned, so he might actually surprise some people this week.
Hill starting at quarterback this week likely means the fantasy world gets to see more from Kenny Britt. Britt caught just four passes last week but he made them count, racking up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown. He’s always been considered an electric receiver with a lot of potential but injuries and controversy have always seemed to follow him around. Perhaps with no other top-notch receivers inside to take away targets from him, Britt might be that late season surprise that puts fantasy owners over the top as they pursue a championship at the end of the year.
San Diego Chargers
After looking like an MVP for much of the first half of the season, quarterback Philip Rivers has struggled in the last two weeks. He got bailed out by the fact the team played the Oakland Raiders last week so even though he only threw for 193 yards and a touchdown, the Chargers walked away with the win. That didn't help fantasy owners very much however, especially considering Rivers threw three interceptions the week before. He's too good not to get back on track and although the Rams have shown they can cover the pass, Rivers should still be in for a much better day playing at home in Week 12.
Rivers will get help from running back Ryan Mathews, to return to the lineup last week after missing a fair amount of time with an MCL sprain. He carried the ball 16 times for 70 yards against the Raiders, which isn't bad considering he was out for seven games. He will need to do better against the Rams in order to provide his owners with any real fantasy value going forward however, especially in light of the fact many of them paid the price and held onto him for this long on the bench. St. Louis is stingy against the run, but if Mathews can breakthrough, it will make a lot of people happy.
