The New Orleans Saints' offense has struggled this season and the loss of rookie Brandin Cooks to a thumb injury didn't help. Veteran wide receiver Joe Morgan was expected to see some increase in his production, but the 129 all-purpose yards on two touches Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens wasn't predictable.
Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 13: Joe Morgan produces high volume on low touches
Joe Morgan didn’t see much increase in touches but he did see uptick in production on “Monday Night Football” as the Saints lost to the Ravens. We bring you the fantasy implications here.
Morgan was only targeted one time and carried the ball one time. While he totaled 129 yards, the two looks are not encouraging. The Saints put up more than 500 yards and Drew Brees passed for 420 yards and three touchdowns, but he did not find Morgan for a score. It was a sloppy performance once again by the Saints' defense, which allowed Baltimore to gain 449 total yards while Joe Flacco threw for a score and Justin Forsett rushed for two more.
Fantasy impact: Morgan barely saw the ball, though he did make the most of those two touches. It was Morgan’s first carry this season and he rushed for 67 yards. He was targeted once for a gain of 62 yards. The yardage is nice but the touches aren’t inspiring. Morgan won’t be on any fantasy radars as there are simply better options with the possibility for more consistent production. However, he could be someone to keep an eye on.
