San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (shoulder) returned to practice on Wednesday, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Matthews left the game against the St. Louis Rams last week in the third quarter before returning with time winding down.
Ryan Mathews returns to practice, fantasy value expected to increase the rest of the season
The Chargers’ workhorse back returned to practice on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Seeing Mathews leave the game last week had to be tough for his fantasy owners. That’s because he ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. With those kind of numbers it goes without saying he was in for a big day.
The good news is, he is expected to play this week against the Baltimore Ravens. It's just too bad that injuries have followed Mathews around throughout most of his career.
Those who decide to start him on Sunday should know that the Ravens have given up the second fewest fantasy points to running backs at this point in the season, so while his workload could be heavy, fantasy owners should know that Mathews might not yield big numbers this week.
