The Patriots' backfield frequently seems to be an enigma. A Patriots' running back can be trending toward Pro Bowl numbers, only to be benched for a single fumble. Another running back could find the end zone three times in one game before disappearing on the depth chart for weeks. Just when you think you've figured it out, you realize that it's an impossible task.
Fantasy football start/sit, Week 13: Jonas Gray, LeGarrette Blount
LeGarrette Blount is coming off a big week and Jonas Gray is returning Sunday. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Jonas Gray rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns in Week 11. It was an incredible feat. When Gray showed up late to a Friday practice, he was benched Sunday. LeGarrette Blount, who was claimed by the Patriots just four days prior to Sunday's game, rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Week 12.
As the Patriots head to Green Bay to face the Packers, word is surfacing the Patriots will focus on the power running game. It makes sense. The best way to beat an offense led by Aaron Rodgers is the keep the ball out of Rodgers' hands as much as possible. The Patriots will likely give opportunities to Gray and Blount, possibly on a series-by-series basis until the hot hand surfaces.
Fantasy impact: The good news is the Patriots' run game is thriving. The bad news is fantasy owners are dealing with a familiar dilemma. Who can you trust on a weekly basis? Both backs should see playing time. It's just a matter of who steps up Sunday. Let's not forget Shane Vereen will see his share as well. Fantasy owners can plug either Gray or Blount into their flex knowing there's tremendous upside, especially if there are a handful of goal-line carries.
