The quarterback situation in Washington either did or did not find some semblance of clarity Sunday. Starter Colt McCoy got injured early, bringing Robert Griffin III into the game, where he played well enough to justify further playing time, assuming the coaches feel they can trust the one-time starter, which is never a sure thing with Washington. Griffin's performance wasn't enough, as Washington lost to the New York Giants, 24-13.
Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 16: Robert Griffin III fills in well
With the starter hurt, Griffin came in and put up decent numbers Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Griffin completed 18-of-27 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown in relief Sunday. He added 46 rushing yards on five carries and lost one of his three fumbles. Griffin had a rushing touchdown called back just before halftime that would have made his day look even better, but even without that, the fill-in quarterback managed 15 fantasy points. Before he left with a neck injury (on the opening drive), McCoy completed 4-of-7 passes for 39 yards and ran the ball twice for 24.
Fantasy impact: McCoy's injury is an aggravation of the one that almost held him out of Sunday to begin with. It's hard to imagine the team tries to run the largely ineffective McCoy back out there next week after the quarterback has been injured each of the last two weeks. Washington's other quarterback, Kirk Cousins, is even lower on the depth chart than Griffin was.
That leaves the biggest name, Griffin. He's looked better in recent weeks than he looked early in the year, though that is saying very little. Still, assuming he's the quarterback Saturday night when Washington hosts the Philadelphia Eagles, Griffin will be a mid-to-low QB2.
