Rivers is listed with a chest injury and the Chargers are giving him extra rest on a short week. He continued to struggle after a hot start to the season, throwing for 232 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Denver Broncos in Week 15. On the season, Rivers has 3,639 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his passes.
Fantasy impact: Rivers is tough enough that he played through a torn ACL in a playoff game, so we don’t expect him to sit this week out with the Chargers’ postseason hopes hanging by a thread. He hasn’t missed a single game since being anointed the franchise quarterback in 2006.
Rivers garnered some MVP hype earlier in the season, but has since tailed off into above-average territory. Rivers will be a borderline QB1 for fantasy championship week.
