After a long stretch of awful fantasy performances, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a huge game Saturday. Kaepernick's 27 fantasy points were his second highest total of the season, and more than his Weeks 13-15 production combined. The output came in San Francisco's 38-35 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 17: Colin Kaepernick gets back to the good side
The San Francisco quarterback had a huge game Saturday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Kaepernick completed 15 of 24 passes Saturday for only 114 yards and one touchdown, but he also ran the ball seven times for 151 yards and a score. The 49ers jumped out to a lead early in the game and tried to run the clock out while San Diego came back, which helps explain Kaepernick’s low passing total -- he still had a passer rating of 87.8 and a QBR of 97.7.
Fantasy impact: Kaepernick had not recorded more than 13 fantasy points in a game since Week 6 before Saturday, so suffice it to say this production was hard to see coming. Fifteen of his 27 fantasy points came on one 90-yard touchdown run, but it all counts.
The 49ers take on a stout Arizona defense in Week 17. After all the times he’s burned fantasy owners this year, no one should be putting any faith in Kaepernick to close out a season.
