San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was held out of practice Wednesday. Mathews has yet to practice since suffering an ankle injury in Week 14. Head coach Mike McCoy is still optimistic Mathews can return for the regular season finale, but his practice week isn't off to a good start. He should be considered doubtful for San Diego's Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ryan Mathews still not practicing, not a fantasy option
Ryan Mathews missed practice again and is questionable for Week 17. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mathews has labored through yet another injury-plagued season, appearing in just six games. He has rushed for 330 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries, adding nine receptions for 69 yards.
Fantasy impact: 2014 has been a wash for Mathews, whose fantasy stock has once again fallen after a surprising 2013 performance. Now 27 years old and set for free agency in the offseason, Mathews faces an uncertain future in San Diego.
Branden Oliver will get the start if Mathews can't go again. The impressive rookie will be a useful flex player in standard leagues and can probably be had for a discount in daily streaming formats.
