Jackson was forced out of last the game last week with a quad injury. He hasn't been officially ruled out yet, but the Falcons signed Jerome Smith from the practice squad, possibly indicating they don't plan on having the veteran Jackson this week. Through 15 games, Jackson has rushed for 707 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Jacquizz Rodgers and rookie Devonta Freeman will get more run in Jackson's absence.
Fantasy impact: If Jackson is indeed out, he’ll close the book on another disappointing season in Atlanta. Jackson is quickly losing juice in his legs and turns 32 in July. With a 2015 cap hit of $4.9 million (per Over The Cap), it’s fair to wonder if the Falcons will keep him for another year. They can save $3.7 million by cutting Jackson.
Rodgers played more snaps than Freeman in Week 16, but he’s done little to generate real fantasy value. Freeman had some preseason buzz and looks to be the safer bet in daily streaming leagues, but this is a situation we’d rather avoid.
