Washington tight end Jordan Reed had his best game of the season a week ago, with nine catches for 123 yards. He couldn't build on that performance Sunday, though, as he fell back to fantasy irrelevance in Washington's 24-0 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

A week after a game of big yardage, the Washington tight end couldn’t get close to that Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Reed was targeted seven times Sunday, but caught only three of them for 25 yards. Counting only games he’s played this year, Reed has averaged only 4.4 fantasy points a game, and he has yet to score a touchdown. Adding to that, Reed has played in only eight of Washington’s 13 games and been limited in others, as he is always an injury risk.
Fantasy impact: Between his occasional bad performances, his team’s struggles and his penchant for injury, Reed has a lot of warts on his game. As good as he can look sometimes, he has shown no ability to repeat such performances.
Right now, Reed is one of those players whose big games need to be pointless for fantasy -- his downside far outweighs his upside, and as long as that is true, it’s not worth it to run him out there in fantasy.
