A week after barely throwing any passes as the team went with a super run-heavy gameplan, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith went back to a more traditional system Sunday. Smith responded with one of his best fantasy days of the year. Smith helped get the Jets to overtime, where they ultimately lost, 30-24, to the Minnesota Vikings.

Smith managed his third-best fantasy game of the season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Smith completed 18 of 29 pass attempts Sunday for 254 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception, and also ran for 33 yards on six carries. That was good for 15 fantasy points, Smith’s third-highest total of the season.
Fantasy impact: It's sad when 15 fantasy points for a quarterback can qualify as "maybe he's getting better!" numbers, but that's the case with Smith. The quarterback had only 65 passing yards on 13 attempts a week ago against the Dolphins, and had negative-two total fantasy points since Week 7, including a benching in that time. Still, this is a sign that Smith is at least not a total disaster.
“Not a total disaster,” though, is far from an endorsement in someone as a fantasy option. It’s unlikely Smith will even be ranked as a top-30 fantasy quarterback at any point the rest of the way.
