Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel will start the team's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, according to the Pioneer Press. It's Minnesota's second preseason game, and Cassel's second start. There was some thought that rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater might get the start given that he and Cassel are battling for the spot, but Cassel earned another start with his solid play in the preseason opener, it seems.
Matt Cassel to start 2nd preseason game, fantasy value still up in the air
Matt Cassel will start the Minnesota Vikings’ second preseason game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cassel played just one series against the Oakland Raiders, and completed 5 of 6 passes for 62 yards. Minnesota scored on that drive, when Matt Asiata ran in a 1-yard touchdown. Bridgewater then came off the bench and played about two quarters, completing 6 of 13 passes for 49 yards, while getting sacked twice. Christian Ponder, who is no longer in the running for the starting job, completed just three passes and was sacked three times.
Fantasy Football: Right now, it looks like Cassel’s job to lose, although Bridgewater could still earn starts in the third or fourth preseason game. Minnesota is still a running team, though, and neither quarterback is a strong option for fantasy owners at this point. If you have to pick one, Cassel is probably the best option, but a lot can change in the coming weeks.
