Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert would obviously prefer teammate Marvin Jones be uninjured and ready to go in Week 1 of the regular season, but he does stand to benefit from Jones' pending absence. Jones is recovering from foot surgery and is likely to miss the first few games of the season, so his spot behind A.J. Green will need to be filled.
Tyler Eifert could see time in slot with Marvin Jones’ injury
Tyler Eifert could get plenty of playing time with Marvin Jones missing some time early in the season. We break down the fantasy implications.

That spot will likely be filled by Mohamed Sanu, who was set to be the No. 3 guy on the field before Jones' injury. And while Sanu should flourish in that role, the situation could wind up being a big deal for Eifert. The tight end could end up seeing significant time playing in the slot, as noted by Coley Harvey of ESPN. Eifert is entering his second year in the league after catching 39 passes for 445 yards and two touchdowns last year.
Fantasy Impact: Eifert has all the makings of a great fantasy tight end, he just needs to put it all together. The Bengals are a better team with Jones on the field, but Eifert is probably a better fantasy option with Jones' injury. Cincinnati has a tight end ahead of Eifert in Jermaine Gresham, but getting the two on the field together will likely be the primary focus of this Andy Dalton-led offense.
