“He’s a good tight end, an athletic guy, stretches the field,” Pro Bowl safety Devin McCourty said. “Really, I think, understands how to get open against good defenses. That’s always good work when you can go against good tight ends. They have a bunch of them. At the safety position we got some pretty good work going against them the past two days.”
Chandler Jones was impressed with Ertz's athleticism and noted, "He's more of a skill position player than anything. I've had the opportunity to cover him for these two days of practice, and he's been a handful."
A second-round pick out of Stanford, Ertz caught 36 passes for 469 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie year.
Fantasy impact: With DeSean Jackson gone and Jeremy Maclin making his way back from injury, Ertz has had plenty of opportunities to shine in camp. He's set for a big leap in his second year in Chip Kelly's system and might be the top sleeper tight end in fantasy. His 10th-round ADP is a good value at this point in the preseason.
