Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart is going to see a significant number of carries as the team's favorite to claim the No. 1 spot in the lineup ahead of Jordan Todman, according to a report by ESPN.com. Gerhart had spent the majority of his career backing up Adrian Peterson with the Minnesota Vikings prior to joining the Jaguars this season.
Toby Gerhart to see 15 to 18 touches a game, creating fantasy football timeshare
Toby Gerhart could see as many as 18 touches per game in the Jaguars’ backfield this season. We discuss the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: In addition to Gerhart and Todman, the Jags' backfield also features Denard Robinson and rookie Storm Johnson. Though the latter three backs have some upside, Gerhart is the most polished and reliable option of the group, so it makes sense that he'd see a lot of work.
The Jaguars are turning over a new leaf in their running game with the departure of Maurice Jones-Drew this past offseason. Couple that with the fact the team's offense has been relatively anemic over the past few years and it would be tough to look at Gerhart as anything more than a flex option to start the season.
