Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Charles Sims is expected to miss 12-to-14 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right ankle, according to a report by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. The rookie was pegged to be the team's No. 2 back behind Doug Martin before getting hurt.
Charles Sims has surgery, puts Bobby Rainey on fantasy football radar
The Buccaneers’ third-round selection is out 12-to-14 weeks due to ankle surgery. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: There was never any doubt that the Bucs’ top option in the running game would be Martin, but the fact that team was counting on Sims to be a solid pass catcher out of the backfield means this injury is definitely a blow to Tampa Bay’s offense.
Now that Sims is going to be out quite a while, Bobby Rainey will be the guy that occasionally spells Martin. Make no mistake, though, Martin was used heavily before he suffered a season-ending torn labrum last year, so while Rainey did put together some explosive fantasy results last year, his ceiling will be limited as long as Martin stays healthy.
