The Chicago Bears have signed former New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
Santonio Holmes signs with Chicago Bears, will have minimal effect on fantasy leagues
In an effort to bolster the depth of their wide receiving core, the Chicago Bears signed veteran Santonio Holmes. We break down the fantasy implications.

Marquess Wilson sustained a broken collarbone, thus creating an immediate need for a third wide receiver. Now, Holmes will have a chance to compete against Eric Weems and Joshua Morgan for that spot as Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall occupy the top of the depth chart. Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards and a touchdown in 2013 while dealing with injuries of his own.
Fantasy Spin: It’s fair to question how much Holmes has left in the tank after appearing in just 15 games over the past two seasons, but with the Bears needing depth this signing makes sense. Though Holmes displayed a knack for making big plays earlier in his career, fantasy owners should not feel any need to draft him until he proves he can recapture that ability. He’s a player worth watching, but not one worth holding breath for.
