Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is dealing with a rib injury and was held out of practice on Monday. Head coach Doug Marrone would not name a timetable for Watkins' return, saying, "Unless I know for sure, I'm not going to comment."
Sammy Watkins missing practice with rib injury, fantasy status up in the air
The Bills’ star rookie has a rib injury and the team isn’t sure when he’ll be back. We break down the fantasy implications.

Watkins injured the rib during Saturday’s preseason game. The rookie receiver drew rave reviews throughout training camp, but has been held quiet in the preseason. Through three games, Watkins has just three catches for 21 yards. The Bills paid a heavy price for Watkins, trading away their 2015 first-round pick to move up and grab him in the NFL Draft.
Fantasy impact: Watkins avoided a rib fracture, so his Week 1 status should be okay, but he might have to sit out Buffalo's fourth preseason game. One of the most highly touted receivers of this year's draft class, Watkins' fantasy ceiling is limited by the Bills' run-first offense and the continued struggles of EJ Manuel. Robert Woods and Mike Williams should see more practice reps with Watkins out.
