Johnny Manziel struggling with playbook, poised to ride fantasy football bench in favor of Brian Hoyer
The Browns’ first-round pick is still struggling to keep up with the team’s playbook and will give way to Brian Hoyer in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: It looks like the world will have to wait for the arrival of Johnny Football as a regular-season NFL quarterback. His bandwagon fans will no doubt contend that he should start, but the bottom line is he has a lot to prove.
That’s saying a lot considering Hoyer has been equally bad in the preseason. Either way, it’ll probably be a matter of just a few weeks before the cries for Manziel grow louder, especially if the Browns start off the season on a losing streak.
Fantasy owners should probably explore better quarterbacking options on draft day, and if they do pursue Manziel, it should be as no more than a waiver wire pickup until the young man proves that he can put up respectable numbers consistently. Those that do choose a Browns passer to start the year should go with Hoyer at this point
