Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub sat out practice on Sunday due to tendinitis in his elbow, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. We knew Schaub was out with a sore elbow, but this report suggests that the tendinitis to blame for his struggles with arm strength this preseason. There is no structural damage, however, which means it should heal up sooner rather than later with rest.
Matt Schaub dealing with tendinitis, per report; not a strong fantasy option regardless
Matt Schaub is struggling with his arm strength and a sore elbow. We break down the fantasy implications.

Throughout training camp and the preseason this year, Schaub has looked about the same as he did just before he was benched last year. Second-round pick Derek Carr worked with the first team on Sunday, and has looked solid thus far in training camp and the preseason. Most considered it an outside chance that Carr could earn a starting role, but if Schaub doesn't get his power back, anything can happen.
Fantasy Impact: Schaub threw way too many interceptions last year for him to be a viable fantasy option going forward. The Raiders are expected to be a mess this season, and getting Schaub on your fantasy team would simply be a mistake. Carr may have better prospects at this point, but neither are really solid players to recommend at this point. If you were set on an Oakland quarterback for some reason, this news should make it a difficult decision for you.
