Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has an uncertain few weeks ahead of him. Newton suffered a hairline rib fracture in last week's preseason game and did not practice on Monday, although beat writer Steve Reed noted that he "appears to be walking better."
Cam Newton not practicing Monday, still hoping to be ready for fantasy owners
The Panthers are being cautious with Newton, who did not practice on Monday. We break down the fantasy implications.

With just over two weeks before the regular season starts, the Panthers aren't sure if Newton will be ready for Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Newton also had ankle surgery in the offseason and didn't look like his normal self in the few times he played.
Fantasy impact: The Panthers sound as uncertain about Newton as we do, so this looks like it will be a day-to-day situation. Look for Derek Anderson to play most of the preseason finale on Thursday. Newton still has plenty of fantasy upside even if he has to miss a game or two, but his body is pretty banged up, which could cost him some value in the running game. Keep drafting him as a QB2 but make sure you have a Plan B in place.
