It's still unclear who will be the starting running back for the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Joe Philbin has praised Lamar Miller plenty, but he's still splitting time with Knowshon Moreno, a free agent addition this offseason. Philbin said that he likes "everything Lamar has done since he's gotten here," and went on to say that he had an "excellent offseason and camp," according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Lamar Miller, Knowshon Moreno still splitting carries; fantasy value iffy for both
Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno are still splitting carries, and it’s unclear which will be the starter this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

When asked about Moreno in the same conversation, Philbin simply said that he "ran the ball well" on Saturday. The two have been splitting time with the first team in practice. Miller carried the ball 177 times for 709 yards with two touchdowns as the primary ball-carrier for the Dolphins last season. Moreno carried the ball 241 times for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Denver Broncos in 2013.
Fantasy Impact: Both Miller and Moreno are strong fantasy options on their own, but only if we know they’ll be starters. Moreno is fully capable of putting up another big season if he’s the primary ball-carrier, while Miller can certainly take that next step if the duty falls to him. But if they split carries or potentially even switch starting roles on a game-by-game basis, then fantasy owners are in trouble. It’s hard to recommend that folks stay away from two backs as talented as these, but it might be the smartest option.
