The answer appears to be no, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter says that Gronkowski is “in a good spot” and the Wright trade was simply to provide “depth, options.” Gronkowski is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL and hopes to be ready for Week 1, which starts in just over a week.
Fantasy impact: The Patriots are notoriously tight-lipped about injury news, so it’s impossible to read into anything about the trade they made. Right now, the company line is that the team is optimistic, with some slight concern. We probably won’t know if Gronk will play in Week 1 until the inactive list is released before kickoff.
