Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been practicing with the first team for almost a week and will start in Thursday's preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks. Carr gets the nod over Matt Schaub, who is dealing with elbow tendinitis.
Derek Carr starting final preseason game, not much fantasy value
The Raiders are turning to the rookie quarterback in Thursday’s game, and they’re hoping he shows more than Matt Schaub did. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Raiders took Carr in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. They were intending for him to be a long-term project, but Schaub has struggled badly in the preseason and now has a mysterious elbow condition. While the team remains publicly committed to Schaub being the Week 1 starter, Carr could change some minds with a strong performance Thursday.
Fantasy implications: That will be a tall order against Seattle's defense, but if Carr acquits himself well, the Raiders may be forced to give up on Schaub much earlier than they planned. Even if he wins the job, Carr is only worth stashing in two-quarterback leagues and doesn't have much 2014 appeal. Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden could see a boost in their carries with the quarterback situation looking like another mess.
