Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr has a 100 percent chance of being the team's starting quarterback going into Week 1, according to a report by Vic Tafur. Carr has apparently locked down his spot after throwing three touchdown passes in the team's preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.
Derek Carr could get Week 1 start over Matt Schaub, fantasy value rising
The Raiders rookie quarterback picked apart the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday and seems to have locked down the starter’s gig in Oakland. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Coming into training camp, Carr was competing with veteran Matt Schaub for the starting job, and it appears he's come out on top, at least to start the season. Schaub's had experience as the go-to guy with the Houston Texans where Carr hasn't, but Carr has simply been too good in exhibition play.
Given that it’s also been reported Schaub is dealing with an elbow injury, there’s a chance the job was really Carr’s for the taking from the start anyway. He’s capitalized on the opportunity and will get the chance to lead a franchise that has been mediocre for quite a few years now.
Fantasy owners may indeed gamble on Carr as a backup quarterback in standard leagues, but the safer bet would be to wait and see how he does in a regular season game or two before adding him to your roster.
