David Wilson's NFL career could be over before it really began. The New York Giants running back was placed on injured reserve after recurring neck injuries, and the Giants announced Monday that team doctors advised him against playing football again.
David Wilson placed on IR, fantasy season is over
The Giants shut down Wilson for the year and he’s been advised to retire after lingering neck issues. We break down the fantasy implications.

Wilson’s neck problem first came up last season. After a long recovery, he finally got cleared for contact in July, but suffered another setback with a “burner” in training camp. A first-round pick in 2012, Wilson ends his career with 504 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 21 games.
Fantasy impact: For obvious reasons, Wilson’s 11th-round ADP should tumble this week and Dynasty owners can also cut him loose. Wilson was a dynamic talent when he saw the field, but neck injuries are a scary ordeal and walking away from the game is the right decision for the 23-year-old.
The Giants will move forward with Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams atop the depth chart. If the Hall of Fame Game is any indication, Williams could have some nice fantasy value as a goal-line vulture.
