St. Louis Rams running back Tre Mason might be facing an uphill battle to earn snaps in the regular season. The Rams released their first unofficial depth chart on Monday, and Mason is listed on the fourth team. Zac Stacy is the starter, with Benny Cunningham backing him up. Isaiah Pead and Chase Reynolds are on the third team.
Tre Mason listed with 4th team on Rams depth chart, unlikely to make fantasy impact in 2014
The rookie from Auburn is near the bottom of the depth chart to start the preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Rams drafted Mason in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft after an electric season at Auburn. He rushed for 1,816 yards and scored 24 total touchdowns while leading the Tigers to the BCS National Championship Game.
Fantasy impact: While it’s still early in the preseason, so far it doesn’t look like Mason will be a real challenge to Stacy, and may have to compete with Cunningham and Pead for backup duties. Barring injury, Mason might not be much more than a change-of-pace guy in his rookie year, making his 12th-round ADP a poor value right now. Stacy remains a safe RB2 for the time being.
