Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper is likely out of the team's preseason opener against the Chicago Bears on Friday. The news comes from head coach Chip Kelly, via Reuben Frank of CSN Philly. Cooper is dealing with a foot injury and has missed some time in practice, so this news isn't surprising.
Riley Cooper likely out of preseason opener; fantasy owners shouldn’t worry yet
Riley Cooper’s injury is considered minor, but he still might be kept out of the preseason opener. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cooper is expected to start alongside Jeremy Maclin, who also might be unavailable on Friday. Maclin is dealing with soreness in his legs, but has said he'll be ready to go on Friday. Kelly has been noncommittal when it comes to Maclin playing, though. Cooper's injury isn't regarded as serious, but it sounds like the Eagles will be playing a game without both of their starting receivers.
Fantasy Impact: Cooper and Maclin are both strong fantasy options this year, especially if Nick Foles plays up to the standards set on the back-end of last season. They've got big shoes to fill with DeSean Jackson having been released. Fantasy owners of either shouldn't be worried about these injuries just yet, for what it's worth.
If both played on Friday, even without injuries, it’s unlikely they’d have seen more than a series or two. If either happens to sit out of the third preseason game, then fantasy owners can start to get a little worried. For now, both injuries are minor.
