Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will get little, if any, playing time in the preseason. The team already confirmed that Peterson will sit out Friday's opening game against the New Orleans Saints, and there are indications that he won't play at all until the regular season.
Adrian Peterson missing preseason opener, not a concern to fantasy owners
The veteran is not injured, but the Vikings aren’t taking any chances -- he’s sitting out Friday’s game and might miss the entire preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

Peterson has no injury concerns to speak of, but the Vikings aren't taking any chances with their 29-year-old veteran, who rushed for 1,266 yards and scored 11 total touchdowns in 2013. Matt Asiata and rookie Jerick McKinnon are expected to compete for snaps this month.
Fantasy impact: Peterson should be well-rested once the games start mattering, so this shouldn't affect his draft position, which is currently No. 3 overall. Asiata filled in for Peterson when he missed two games last season, but McKinnon is worth keeping an eye on when you get around to drafting Peterson's handcuff. The Vikings' offense will once again run through Peterson no matter if it's Matt Cassel or Teddy Bridgewater under center.
