Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Woods is still looking for a clear role on the team's offense. He was listed as a starter on the Bills' first depth chart, but played with the second team in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game. Woods has since been splitting time between the first and second teams in practice this week.
Robert Woods splitting reps with 1st and 2nd teams, fantasy role still unclear
Woods played with the backups in the Hall of Fame Game and doesn’t appear to have a defined role on the team yet. We break down the fantasy implications.

Head coach Doug Marrone had a private chat with Woods on Wednesday and said he wanted to see more of a chip on the shoulder. From ESPN:
“We know Robert can play three positions for us. We’re just trying to figure out what’s the best combination that we have out there,” Marrone said. “When Robert first came to camp, he didn’t do that. Not to say he was complacent or not, but I told Robert today, when he plays with that little chip on his shoulder, he’s a darn good football player.”
Woods is competing for playing time with Sammy Watkins, Mike Williams and Chris Hogan. He recorded 40 catches for 587 yards and three touchdowns in 2013.
Fantasy impact: Marrone's comments hint that running with the second team could be a motivational tactic for Woods, and the second preseason game should be a better indicator of where he stands on the depth chart. Either way, Woods is a questionable fantasy investment with EJ Manuel continuing to struggle.
