Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts is not practicing with the team on Thursday, according to Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union. This is something of a surprise, given that the receiver was at team practice on Wednesday, testing his hamstring injury. According to Shorts, though, he didn't have a setback on Wednesday, so it sounds like the team is just playing it safe.
Cecil Shorts doesn’t practice Thursday; fantasy value still up in the air for Week 2
Cecil Shorts practiced for the first time in the regular season on Wednesday, but he missed practice on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Shorts sustained the hamstring injury in the preseason and did not play in the team's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. It's worth noting that another receiver stepped up big time in Shorts' absence: rookie Allen Hurns. He led the team in receiving with four catches and 110 yards. He also managed a pair of touchdowns, and has been a popular fantasy football waiver wire pickup.
Fantasy Impact: Hamstring injuries are among the worst when it comes to the potential for re-injury. Players have to make sure they’re really ready to come back or they risk a more serious strain. Shorts is probably just resting, and we’ll have a better idea of his chances to play in Week 2 against Washington on Friday. Hurns having a big game probably has something of an effect on the decision to let Shorts rest.
