Fantasy football rankings, Week 3: Running backs

There’s a scene from Game of Thrones that best describes what we as fantasy owners are currently going through. You know the one. Mother and family joyfully gather in the church as her son (don’t act like you know their names) is finally set to be wed. Candles line the fruit bowls atop rustic tables. A band sits in the background playing whatever the equivalent of a symphony during 1 B.C. is.

Then, the windows close.

Due to the explicit nature of the content, I can’t exactly go into detail. But at the end, the mother is left weeping on her knees in the midst of everything that once was. The greatest day had become a living nightmare, just like that. And if this doesn’t sound familiar, you’ve probably escaped the first two weeks of football unscathed. Congratulations. You win everything.

As for the rest of you, congratulations as well. You’ve officially won the right to battle your opponents. One exception: your only weapon is the waiver priority that’s been provided. Here’s how to use it for Week 3 and, in some cases, the rest of the season.

If there were a backup to own, it would certainly be Davis. There’s a chance he’s outperformed if we were ranking for the rest of the year, but in the meantime, there’s no better solution to your problems. Just be wary that you might be dishing out 30 percent of your FAAB for a Week 10 backup.

Apparently, the secret to being successful in Tampa Bay is to simply not be named Doug Martin. That being said, Martin is still a valuable player. But if he misses any amount of time, Rainey should be more than just a handcuff. If you’re a Martin owner or just interested in long-term investments, I’m prioritizing Rainey above all else.

This many injuries weren’t in the cards, but quite frankly, they never are. Welcome to the red wedding.
