New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and is expected to play against the Oakland Raiders in Week 3.
Shane Vereen could lose some snaps for fantasy owners in Week 3
Shane Vereen’s shoulder injury caused him to be limited in Thursday’s practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

While Vereen has a lengthy injury history, this shoulder issue is not considered serious. Still, the Patriots may keep him on the sidelines a little more based on the matchup. When the Patriots win, Stevan Ridley gets more snaps than Vereen while it's the other way around when they lose. The Raiders are 0-2 and are a league-worst +14.5 against the spread this week.
Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners in standard leagues may want to sit Vereen down, but not because of his shoulder injury. Unless he has a fast start, he may have a sub-par outing in what is expected to be a blowout. PPR owners can view him as a low-end RB2. Of course, things don’t always go according to plan with the Patriots and their running back situation.
