Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had a big game Sunday. His 116 yards easily surpassed the 24 of his teammate Andre Johnson in the team's 30-17 loss to the New York Giants.
DeAndre Hopkins outpaces Andre Johnson for fantasy owners
The second-year Texan easily surpassed his veteran teammate Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Hopkins' big yardage came on six receptions, while Johnson's came on four. Johnson was still more heavily targeted than Hopkins, as the veteran was thrown to 11 times, compared to nine for the second-year Hopkins. The team's lone touchdown catch came on a 44-yard connection from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to wide receiver Damaris Johnson.
Fantasy impact: Hopkins was a popular rising-stock choice entering the season, after a reasonably productive rookie year. Through three games, he now has 227 yards and two touchdowns, and that includes a 22-yard outing in Week 2. He’s put himself into clear relevance, and would be a fine low-end WR2 or flex play going forward.
Johnson, meanwhile, looked decent through two games. He hasn’t found the end zone yet, but the 12-year veteran had 167 yards in Weeks 1 and 2 combined before Sunday’s veritable no-show. Best bet for now is on that bad performance being a fluke, and Johnson will be fine from here on.
