Fantasy football waiver wire: Week 4 byes include Peyton Manning, Marshawn Lynch, A.J. Green

The NFL enters Week 4, which means bye weeks are upon us. We take a look at the fantasy implications for this week.

Week 4 is upon us, which means bye weeks officially get started. Bye weeks run through Week 12, so the next nine weeks will see extensive waiver wire strategy in play. Some teams built up their roster to withstand bye weeks, while others are flying by the seat of their pants, adjusting from week to week.

Fantasy Rankings: QB RB WR TE D/ST

This first week of byes features a lot of big talent on the sideline. The Week 4 byes include the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams. That means anybody who went heavy on Broncos players is going to need to figure out some alternatives. If you have Peyton Manning, you only need a QB for this week. That QB then becomes waiver fodder next week.

One area that might involve a couple of strategies is the kicker position. If you have a bottom-of-the-barrel player you've been meaning to dump, grabbing a second kicker might make sense if you have Steven Hauschka or Greg Zuerlein. Even Chandler Catanzaro and Brandon McManus are potentially worth hanging on to. However, generally speaking, this is the point where you either start streaming kickers on a weekly basis, or just find a replacement you think will be solid for a few weeks. A guy like Falcons kicker Matt Bryant, for instance, would be a good replacement until Week 9. Kickers are as much matchup-based as anything, so play around with that.
