Fantasy football rankings, Week 4: Wide receivers for standard, PPR leagues

Bye weeks are upon us and we’ll be missing some big-name receivers this week. We take a look at your options with our Week 4 rankings.

Harry How

After dealing with off-field issues and injuries that have played tricks with our rosters, we now have bye weeks to deal with for the next nine weeks. This week, along with Weeks 9 and 10, are the worst due to six teams being unavailable. The six teams that have their bye are Arizona, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle and St. Louis. The one benefit is that injured players like A.J. Green, Marvin Jones and Demaryius Thomas will have some well deserved recovery time. Key wideouts that we'll be without include: Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, A.J. Green, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Emmanuel Sanders and Percy Harvin.

T.Y. Hilton left Sunday's game with an ankle sprain and did not return. Depending on what kind of ankle sprain Hilton has, he could miss significant time, but coach Chuck Pagano did not believe that the injury was that bad. So hopefully it's not a high ankle sprain and we'll have Hilton back on the field for a great matchup on Sunday. Harry Douglas injured his foot on Thursday night against Tampa Bay, and the extra days before his next game against Minnesota should help. Roddy White will no doubt return from his hamstring injury to also face the Vikings.

Fantasy Rankings: QB RB WR TE D/ST

Keenan Allen looked like he was somewhat limited by his groin injury against Buffalo, and his two catches for 17 yards didn't help any fantasy owners. We hope that he can recover and practice this week, especially since his Week 4 matchup is a tasty one with the Chargers facing Jacksonville. DeSean Jackson was a game-time decision last week but ended up having a monster game. Maybe it was the revenge factor that got him through, but the short week will be doing us no favors this week. He'll probably miss most practices this week but should be good for Thursday night. Rod Streater fractured his foot and will be lost for multiple weeks. I know Raiders are not the most sought after fantasy players, but this should only add to the targets that James Jones receives. He's worth taking a chance on with bye weeks upon us.

If you're in need of some help this week, take a good look at Jordan Matthews. He'll be a hot commodity after the game he had last week against Washington, and while he's technically not the No. 2 receiver, his numbers say otherwise. Even if he doesn't get the snaps or targets that a WR2 should be getting, being a part of the Eagles' offense is never a bad thing. The Jets are at the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to offensive weapons -- although, if you happened to watch the complete game on Monday night, it looked like Jeremy Kerley has some value. With Eric Decker in and out of the lineup, Kerley will continue to amass targets. He's only a WR4, but carries pretty good value in PPR leagues.
