Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 4: Buccaneers vs. Steelers

Pittsburgh is coming off its biggest win of the season. Tampa Bay is coming off of one of its biggest losses ever.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had brutal road losses in Thursday night games this season. The Steelers bounced back with a big Week 2 win, and Sunday, the Buccaneers travel to Pittsburgh for a 1 p.m. ET game, hoping to do the same.

Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:

Buccaneers

Start in every league: Doug Martin

Start if you're desperate: Vincent Jackson

Bench: Mike Glennon, Bobby Rainey, Mike Evans, Brandon Myers, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Patrick Murray, Defense/special teams

All reports say that Martin is fully healthy or close now, and with Rainey’s fumbles a week ago, you’ve got to think Tampa Bay will go back to their No. 1.

It’s been a slow start to the season for Jackson, but he and Glennon worked well together a year ago, and he’s still been heavily targeted, so look for things to improve.

Glennon does help Jackson’s value, but the quarterback doesn’t have a lot of value in his own right. ... Rainey looks like he’s back to the bench with Martin back in the fold, though he’ll still get some touches. ... Evans has increased his fantasy production by one point each game, but he needs to do much more to be a fantasy factor. ... Myers and Seferian-Jenkins are both on the outside of fantasy usability at tight end. ... Murray has a total of eight fantasy points in three weeks; he’s not much help at kicker. ... The Buccaneers’ defense was supposed to be better than it has been, but as of now it’s not worth much.

Steelers

Start in every league: Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Shaun Suisham

Start if you're desperate: Ben Roethlisberger, Defense/special teams

Bench: LeGarrette Blount, Markus Wheaton, Heath Miller

At this point, Bell is closer to the No. 1 running back in fantasy than he is to being an RB2. ... Brown has put up huge value so far, with 16 points per game. ... The Steelers’ successful offense so far means that Suisham has had plenty of kicking opportunities.

Roethlisberger has yet to put up big numbers despite the successes of Bell and Brown. He’s a high-end QB2 this week. ... The Steelers’ defense looked terrible until Week 3; with Tampa Bay’s struggling offense, it’s an interesting unit, but not a guarantee.

Blount had a huge game in Week 3, but he’s also had a no-show this season. Tread lightly. ... Wheaton has done progressively worse since his good opening game. He’s in the late 30s among wide receivers. ... Miller is still far from useful in fantasy.
