Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Jaguars-Chargers featuring Cecil Shorts III, Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen
We break down the Week 4 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the San Diego Chargers.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Wide receiver Cecil Shorts III made his season debut for the Jaguars in Week 3. The stat line would say that he did OK given that he caught five passes for 35 yards and his first touchdown of the season. The touchdown, however, came during garbage time as the Indianapolis Colts sealed the victory pretty early on in the game. It's a good thing fantasy scores don't know the difference for Shorts' owners, but a matchup against an AFC West contender that is good at limiting wide receivers isn't exactly what the doctor ordered for Shorts.
Perhaps a change of pace will spark the Jags' offense, at least that's what coach Gus Bradley is probably hoping after he named Blake Bortles the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the season. It will be Bortles' first-career start and while he did throw a pair of picks in the second half against the Colts last week, the young rookie also posted 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the game. It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to keep up with Philip Rivers, but even if he doesn't, the truth is Bortles is the only hope the Jaguars have of sparking any offense as the season goes on.
San Diego Chargers
Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers have to be riding high these days knowing that they are sitting at 2-1 with a three-week stretch of completely winnable games coming up. It all starts in Week 4 with the Jaguars, who give up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than any other team in the NFL. As if that wasn't enough, Rivers seems to be on his game, leading the team to two straight victories with five touchdown passes. This week has all the makings of a blowout and that make Rivers the top fantasy star of the week.
That could mean fantasy owners finally see a big time performance from wide receiver Keenan Allen, who appears to be in a bit of a sophomore fantasy slump to start the year. While Allen does have 12 receptions through three games, he's only managed 109 yards receiving and has yet to find the end zone this season. The Jaguars have all sorts of trouble defending the pass, but with the Chargers' running game littered with injuries and tight end Antonio Gates likely seeing tight coverage, it could be Allen's day to shine.
