That means the Patriots will be looking at Kenbrell Thompkins and Brandon LaFell to step up. Neither receiver has had an impressive career, but this news makes it obvious that they are the top two options. Rob Gronkowski is also active for the Patriots, which limits the ceiling on possible targets to the guys on the outside.
Fantasy impact: It’s a total guessing game right now for who winds up as the top option. Thompkins and Brady have a little more rapport in their second season together, so KT is likely the most valuable fantasy asset among the three. He still shouldn’t be starting in most formats and is more of a stash in case he goes off vs. Miami -- a possible outcome. LaFell has never been much of a high-volume guy and is only worth a look in deep leagues. Dobson owners can look to make a move at this point, but he could emerge later in the season.
