Wide receiver Eric Decker joined the New York Jets in the offseason, coming over from the Denver Broncos. Sunday, he showed why the team wanted him, leading the Jets with 74 receiving yards in their 19-14 season-opening win over the Oakland Raiders.
Eric Decker leads Jets in receiving yards, can’t find end zone for fantasy owners
The new Jet went for 74 yards Sunday, but didn’t score in New York’s 19-14 season-opening win. We break down the fantasy implications.

Decker caught only five passes on six targets, but both either led or tied for the lead for the Jets, who went very run-heavy in the game. He did average almost 15 yards per reception, which was higher than his average in Denver.
Fantasy impact: Going from Peyton Manning as your quarterback to Geno Smith and Michael Vick would hurt any receiver's value, and it does Decker's, but the plus side is now he is the primary mouth to feed in New York, rather than one of several in Denver.
Decker isn’t likely to score at the same frequency he did in Denver. He’s a fantasy starter, but a WR3 or flex play rather than the WR2 he was in Denver. But still, the primary receiver of most NFL teams is a nice get.
