A preseason of increased publicity surrounding Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns continued into the season's first game, as Hurns had a huge day in the Jaguars' 34-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Hurns scored twice in his regular season debut.
Allen Hurns has huge game for Jaguars, fantasy owners
The undrafted rookie continued his strong preseason performance in the season’s first game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Hurns caught only four passes, but went for 110 yards on those catches. Both of his touchdowns -- a 34-yarder and a 21-yarder -- came in a flurry of first-quarter scoring that had Jacksonville ahead 14-0. Behind Hurns, rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee caught six balls for 64 yards, and Mike Brown added 36 yards on three catches.
Fantasy impact: Hurns led the Jaguars in catches in the preseason and, with veteran receiver Cecil Shorts out with an injury, became a big part of the offense in Week 1. Odds are in favor of Shorts’ return in Week 2, but Hurns’ production Sunday has earned him a spot in the offense going forward.
It’s far too early to consider Hurns a viable fantasy starter, but he does need to be added in most leagues now, in case this continues. It would be easy to look at his production and say he didn’t offer much outside of a couple of fluky touchdowns, but 55 of Hurns’ yards came on his scores, and 55 came on his other two catches.
Lee put up middling production in his debut. When Shorts returns, there will be fewer balls for Lee and Hurns to split.
