Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a very good preseason, but that didn't translate to much playing time in the regular season opener on Sunday. Against the Tennessee Titans, Kelce played in just 20 of 58 offense snaps, which comes out to 34 percent. This is particularly troubling given that Dwayne Bowe was inactive for the game and quarterback Alex Smith was suffering from a lack of receiving options.
Travis Kelce plays just 20 snaps against Titans; fantasy value low
Despite a strong preseason and a lack of receiving options, tight end Travis Kelce didn’t get much playing time against the Titans.

That said, Kelce did make the most out of the snaps he did have. He saw five targets and caught three passes for 49 yards, including a long of 27 yards. He had the third-most targets on the team, behind Donnie Avery and fellow tight end Anthony Fasano, which isn't surprising because there's not really anyone else to target in that offense.
Fantasy Impact: Kelce has a ton of big-play potential and seems to have much higher upside than someone like Fasano. It’s unclear if Andy Reid is just sticking with the veteran early on or if there’s something we’re missing about Kelce at this point. Whatever the case, when Bowe returns, there will be even fewer looks for Kelce to go around, unless Reid saw something on Sunday that leads him to believe he should get in on more than 34 percent of snaps. He’s not a strong fantasy option right now.
