Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was listed as limited in Thursday’s practice according to beat writer Kevin Bowen. Luck has been nursing a shoulder injury that has kept him out of the last two games.
Andrew Luck limited in practice, fantasy return for this week still not a sure thing
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck still has to prove he can play before he draws the start on Sunday night. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: In reality, backup Matt Hasselbeck has done an outstanding job filling in for Luck. The team is 2-0 with the veteran backup under center. That said, fantasy owners can’t wait for the team’s franchise player to get back into the lineup.
At the same time, Luck wasn’t exactly off to a blazing start at the beginning of the season. The team lost its first two games and he’s thrown a ton of interceptions this year overall. The good news is Luck will continue to throw at a high volume all year long, so his yardage totals and touchdown passes will eventually even out the mistakes ... at least hopefully.
Fantasy owners should know that Luck has been making strong throws during practice and it seems like he really is nearing a return. The fact that he plays on Sunday night might make it hard for owners to gamble on him should Luck not be cleared earlier in the weekend. Don’t count him out yet, but don’t assume he’s a lock to play.
