Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Dolphins-Titans featuring Ryan Tannehill, Jarvis Landry and Marcus Mariota
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans.
Miami Dolphins
It’s a good thing the Miami Dolphins are coming off their bye week because the team needs time to lick its wounds after getting pounded by the New York Jets in London back in Week 4. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a particularly difficult time against the Jets, completing just 19 of 44 passes in the game. From a fantasy perspective, at least he managed to find the end zone twice, but two interceptions canceled out those scores for owners. Tannehill should fare much better against a much less intimidating Titans defense this week.
Hopefully the better matchup is good news for wide receiver Jarvis Landry, too. Landry has at least 10 targets in every single game the team has played this season, making him an absolute must have in PPR leagues. He was held to just 40 yards on four catches by the Jets, but on the volume that he gets, it’s almost impossible to hold Landry down for too long.
Tennessee Titans
Quarterback Marcus Mariota almost led his team to a win over the depleted Buffalo Bills last week. If he had played a little better, perhaps the team would be 2-2. Mariota found it tough to face the Bills’ front line. The fact he only threw for 187 yards and an interception in the game is proof of that. He should, in theory, be equally fearful of the Dolphins defense he’s about to face, but Ndamukong Suh and company have largely underachieved this season. Mariota should have a bounce-back game against Miami.
Apart from Mariota, there isn’t much to get excited about in the Titans offense from a fantasy perspective, but maybe running back Antonio Andrews is worth a flyer. He only ran for 9 yards on seven carries, but scored the team’s only touchdown of the game against the Bills. The coaching staff seems devoted to a running-back-by-committee situation, but it’s clear that Andrews is the most talented, or at least most used, pass catcher out of the backfield. That gives him added value in PPR leagues . . . albeit deep PPR leagues.
