Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Washington-New York Jets featuring Jamison Crowder, Brandon Marshall and Christopher Ivory
We break down the Week 6 matchup between Washington and the New York Jets.
Washington
With both DeSean Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed struggling with injuries, wide receiver Jamison Crowder emerged as a fantasy option last week for Washington. He caught all eight of his targets against the Atlanta Falcons for 87 yards. It’s one thing if you yield a lot of targets in one game and don’t do much, but when you catch every single pass thrown to you, it’s likely you’re going to get other opportunities. Crowder finds himself in that situation. He did well and will get another look against the Jets. Washington faces a tough defense, but no other pass catcher has more upside for this week than Crowder.
Other than Crowder, running back Alfred Morris may provide some value against the Jets. Morris has had a tough year and seems to have definitely lost ground to rookie teammate Matt Jones. Jones, however, may have a difficult time playing against the Jets due to a toe injury that saw him leave last week’s game early. That means Morris could be in line for more carries. While he probably isn’t on most fantasy teams even in deeper leagues, Morris is one of the few fantasy options on Washington’s roster until the aforementioned DeSean Jackson or Jordan Reed are back in the lineup on a regular basis.
New York Jets
As good as the New York Jets look defensively this season, they’ve got a wide receiver who looks just as good on offense. Brandon Marshall is probably a little bit over the hill in the eyes of many, but it hasn’t shown this season. He’s definitely quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s favorite target. With 400 receiving yards and three touchdowns on the season, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be. He probably won’t finish the year with 1,600 yards, but given where he was drafted in fantasy leagues, Marshall is providing owners with incredible value.
Running back Christopher Ivory isn’t doing too shabby, either. Although nobody would put him in an elite class among the game’s other great rushers, Ivory is coming off a spectacular performance against the Miami Dolphins. He rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown in the game and virtually did whatever he wanted. That won’t happen every week, but Washington doesn’t scare anybody. Ivory could post two straight solid efforts for his owners, making him a definite asset in 12-team leagues.
