Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Cardinals-Steelers featuring Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald and Le’Veon Bell
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are back to being scorching hot after taking their first loss of the season In Week 4. They dominated the Detroit Lions last week to the point that Carson Palmer left the game in the second half. His exit was the only thing stopping him from putting up enormous fantasy stats. He finished with three touchdown passes and just 161 yards. He was clearly efficient completing 11 passes on just 14 attempts. The Cardinals should smoke the Steelers if Michael Vick is under center, but Palmer is a must start no matter what the circumstances are on Sunday.
Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald should also experience great success against Pittsburgh. He has cooled off a bit of late, but still managed to score last week on just five receptions. Fitzgerald has found a way to contribute again on a consistent basis and has revived his career. He wasn’t even supposed to be the team’s number one receiver coming into the season. Fitzgerald himself proclaimed that would be John Brown. In any case, he will be a key part of the team’s game plan in Week 6.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger really wants to be in the lineup against the Cardinals but it seems like a long shot. If Michael Vick has to start again, it likely means another down day for wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brown was seemingly going to catch at least nine passes in every single game until Roethlisberger went down with injury. For whatever reason he just hasn’t been able to click with Vick. Of course nobody blames Brown for that. Perhaps this is a week to sit out an elite receiver against a top-notch defense, as crazy as that might sound.
If the Steelers have any chance of beating the Cardinals, it will likely be because of running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell notched his second straight 100 yard game of the season against the San Diego Chargers last week. He made an amazing play with just five seconds left in regulation time to stretch the game winning touchdown across the goal line. It was an absolutely huge win for the Steelers, who would have otherwise lost had Bell been stuffed. There’s no question he will get a ton of work against Arizona because Vick just can’t carry a team like he used to. That said if Roethlisberger does play, Bell will be more effective in the passing game.
