Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Texans-Jaguars featuring DeAndre Hopkins, Arian Foster and Blake Bortles
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Blake Bortles blew up in a good way against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. He threw for over 300 yards for the first time this season and tossed four touchdown passes. While he did turn the ball over and the Jags still lost the game, any fantasy owners who gambled on Bortles were more than happy with the results on Sunday. It’ll be tougher to put together a repeat performance against the Houston Texans, but anybody starting him is at least going with the hot hand.
Bortles’ huge outburst of fantasy points benefited teammate and wide receiver Allen Hurns. He only caught five passes against the Buccaneers last week, but it led to his second straight 100-yard receiving game and his third straight week with a touchdown. It looks like it may be time to start officially putting Jaguars wideouts in lineups on a week to week basis. That’s something fantasy owners probably haven’t even considered since the days of Justin Blackmon. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Jags offense can keep the momentum going.
Houston Texans
Running back Arian Foster only has 51 yards rushing since returning from injury two weeks ago. Fortunately for fantasy owners he did manage to catch five of nine targets out of the backfield last week for 77 yards, which padded the stats in PPR leagues. He is one of the better pass catching running backs in the NFL and should have no problem getting going against the Jaguars. Hopefully a better day on the ground will give him a monstrous stat line.
Even if Foster doesn’t produce big numbers, teammate DeAndre Hopkins probably will. Talk about PPR machines. Hopkins is virtually the only viable receiver the Texans have, and he’s a talented one at that. He’s been targeted 74 times in five games and his reception totals put Hopkins on pace for well over 120 catches. It feels like there’s a 95 percent chance he leads the league in receptions by the end of Week 16. He’s a top 10 fantasy player overall right now regardless of position.
