We break down the Week 6 matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals just keep on finding ways to win and the team’s most viable player to this point in the year has been quarterback Andy Dalton. Last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Dalton threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns. While he did throw an interception, he also completed 30 passes and had over 300 yards in a game for the third straight week. He should be able to absolutely scorch the Bills given Buffalo won’t have anyone on the field who can move the football offensively. It’s only a matter of time before Dalton’s passes elude Buffalo’s secondary.
Having Dalton firing on all cylinders likely means a big game from wide receiver A.J. Green. Green only finished last week’s game with six catches for 78 yards but his stat line could’ve been way bigger had a 72-yard touchdown catch not been called back by a penalty. He’s an elite receiver up against a tough defense this week, but Green should have the upper hand in this one. He’s always someone worth starting with confidence, and with the Bengals rolling there’s no reason for that to change.
Buffalo Bills
With Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams likely unable to play in Week 6 due to injury, the Bills will have to rely on wide receiver Sammy Watkins to come up with a huge game. He himself is dealing with a calf injury, but swears to play on Sunday. That said, Watkins will be catching passes from a quarterback he’s unfamiliar with and on top of that he only plans to play up to 50 snaps in the game. Watkins hasn’t really been able to make an impact all year -- doing so on Sunday against a solid Bengals team is going to be a necessity, but at the same time a tall order.
If the Bills struggle offensively, which is highly likely, it means that running back Boobie Dixon should be in for a busy day. He’s going to need a ton of touches in order to produce. Last week against the Tennessee Titans, Dixon only managed 39 total yards on 10 touches. Coach Rex Ryan said prior to the game against the Bengals that Dan Herron would also factor into the team’s game plan, as Dixon isn’t exactly operating at a high level.
